Posted on December 22, 2008 | 5 comments |

Rob Brydon

Where: Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff
When: 7.30pm. Monday December 8th 2008
How long: Two hours with a 20-minute interval following the warm-up
How much: £20 I think

Well, the public have demanded it and only two weeks after the run finished, I'm reviewing Rob Brydon's stand-up act at the Wales Millennium Centre - Jerry Sadowicz tomorrow for those who voted for that review.

I'm a responsive blogger, me.

Enjoy (subject, probably, to the usual provisos about not being able to enjoy in the US).

Thursday's "slightly sarcastic" news

Posted on December 18, 2008 | 2 comments |

Doctor Who

  • No. Not Matthew Horne. A woman. Or even an 'ethnic doctor' (instead of an 'ethnic actor' presumably). Oh the shock. I think I'm going to have a touch of the vapours
  • Although Dervla Kirwan (who'd know of course) reckons there's a shortlist of six actors for the part including Martin Clunes

Film

Theatre

  • Lucy Davies is the new producer of the National Theatre of Wales

British TV

US TV

  • Trailer for future Smallville episodes
  • Watch The Flight of the Conchords season two premiere [US only, because only the US counts of course. Screw New Zealand who'd have no interest]
  • 24's James Badge Dale to star in AMC's new political thriller
  • ABC greenlights An American Family
  • HBO greenlights Hung. What a surprise
  • Life on Mars, 24 and Dollhouse production budgets being cut

Today's Joanna Page: the iTunes festival

Posted on December 15, 2008 | Post a comment |

Joanna Page on the iTunes music festival

Just to mix it up a bit with Today's Joanna Page, here's a picture (or two) from her visit to the iTunes music festival, where she managed to avoid falling asleep while being interviewed by Peaches Geldof - although Peaches clearly wishes she'd taken her Ritalin before having to do an actual, you know, like job for a change.

Here's JP miming a spinning class from when she joined a gym.

Joanna Page talks about the horrors of spinning

You can watch the full interview below on YouTube. Try not to throw a brick at your monitor whenever Peaches is on-screen.

You know, I will get round to a proper look at Miss Julie and This Year's Love, one day. I'm not just stalling for time, honest.

BBC1 Christmas trailers

Posted on December 1, 2008 | 4 comments |

Trailers from BBC1 for its Christmas season have arrived on YouTube. Here's the drama one, with lots and lots of clips from Doctor Who and the Jonathan Creek Christmas special, among other things.

And here's the comedy one, featuring, among other things, clips from Gavin & Stacey, The Royle Family and that Blackadder documentary.

Joanna Page in the Gavin & Stacey Christmas special

Today's Joanna Page comes from the Gavin & Stacey Christmas special, with Stacey out lingerie shopping with Smithy. Nuff said.

Not the best picture of our Joanna ever, but it's interesting to note that Stacey has what looks like a name badge. Is that a job then?

Today's Joanna Page: Cinderella (again)

Posted on November 24, 2008 | 4 comments |

Joanna Page as Cinderella

© Scott Matthewman

Today's Joanna Page comes from THE BEST AND LUCKIEST MAN IN THE UNIVERSE, Scott Matthewman, who recently interviewed JP for The Stage. He took lots of lovely pictures of our Joanna and was generous enough to offer this one to the blog. It's his so don't nick it, anyone.

As you might have noticed, she's in full costume as Cinderella to publicise her panto role this year. Notably:

  1. She's going to have to sing. With Gareth Gates. Not at all nerve-wracking then
  2. Her hubby's playing Dandini

Joannaphiles can consult the blog's looks at Mine All Mine and Bye, Bye Harry for previous instances of these phenomena.
