Growl if you like me

I don't know how I missed it for so long – or why Apple hasn't built something similar into OS X already – but Growl is a pretty funky add-on that every OS X user should have.

The biggest must-have is its notification of updated Safari RSS feeds. Every time there are new RSS articles for you to read, Growl will notify you, provided you've installed GrowlSafari. But there's already a whole range of applications that have built-in support for it, including Proteus and Skype.
