Freelance sub-editor and production editor
Need a skilled, flexible layout freelance sub-editor or production editor? Look no further.
I’m an experienced, trained sub available for in-house shifts throughout London. I can rewrite articles from scratch, check for accuracy and legal problems, liaise with authors for clarification and corrections, or simply scan pieces for literals and sense. I also adapt to different in-house styles quickly, and frequently use The Economist and Guardian style guides.
I’ve been using QuarkXPress and Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator since 1994 and Adobe InDesign since 2007 on both Mac and Windows. I can lay out pages from templates or from scratch, modify and edit images, then proof, amend, preflight and send pages to print.
I’m fast, since I’ve worked on daily newspapers, and I know the programs inside out.
If you need that little bit more, I can source pictures, page-plan whole magazines, deal with ad production and printers, and check pages on pre-press systems.
I’m available for short bookings of only a few hours, day shifts or longer-term, regular and part-time shifts.
Contact me if you’d like to know more.
I can sub documents remotely using Adobe Creative Cloud in my own office. I have Box, Dropbox, OneDrive and Google Drive accounts, as well as Azure Information Protection for secure emailing of files. If you have a last-minute workload problem and need someone to turn round your copy quickly, I can help.
