However, Deloitte’s Avtar Sehmbi says he finds the larger cloud providers less able to adapt their security to customer requirements because they’ve commoditised their cloud services. Smaller providers are more able to adapt, he says.
Reducing the threat posed by employees in a cloud environment is possible through partnership and correct choice of cloud provider in the initial instance. While technology can help, in many cases, it will be the customer organisation asking the right questions and putting the right processes in place through partnership with the provider that will reduce the biggest risks presented by people inside the organisation and at the provider.
